To access all of the databases at your disposal, you must go through our "proxy server." A proxy server is a computer program that masks outside computer connections so that the connecting database service "thinks" that the connection is actually originating from our library.

Using the Proxy

Step 1: Sign In

To do this, point your browser to: http://users.kmclibrary.org
and enter the username and password supplied.

This will allow you to use the proxy for up to eight hours. Only resources permitted by the library will be proxied; all other websites will be directly connected.

Step 2: Browse

The browser will automatically* use the proxy to connect to resources.

If your session times out after eight hours, you will be redirected to the "Sign In" page whenever you try to go to a resource provided by the library through the proxy.

Step 3: Optional Proxy Setup

* Note: You must have the proxy enabled on your browser to do this. To enable the proxy for your web browser, see the instructions supplied on the "approved" page.

It takes a minute or so to enable the use of a proxy, and the automatic configuration file only proxies permitted sites. All other sites are blocked by the proxy and must be connected to directly.

If you already know how to setup a proxy configuration:
The proxy server address is:
http://users.kmclibrary.org:3128
and the automatic configuration file is
http://users.kmclibrary.org/proxy.pac

Note: All Proxy Access is logged.
